Sidewalk Cafe Application Package

Businesses with a valid license may apply for a Sidewalk Cafe Permit to serve food outside their restaurant, on city sidewalks from March 1 through December 1, 2010. Applications for a sidewalk cafe may be submitted to the City in person or via mail. In order to be able to apply, all applicants must first hold a valid Retail Food Establishment License pursuant to Chapter 4-8 of the Municipal Code of the City of Chicago. Applicants intending to serve liquor at a Sidewalk Cafe must have a valid Liquor License pursuant to Chapter 4-60 of the Municipal Code of the City of Chicago. This program was created by the City of Chicago's Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection to track and maintain information to ensure that all sidewalk cafes are permitted and approved by City ordinances.
