Branding Stickers: Pride of the Near West Side

In Buffalo, NY there was a community neighboring their downtown which was in the process of a positive transformation. Vacant and newly constructed residential homes were being filled, retail tenants began leasing available spaces, and simple bumper stickers with the letters “EV” (Elmwood Village) engulfed the surrounding area. The Elmwood Village community had recently completed a quality-of-life plan which helped energize its residents and tip off a rebranding campaign. One of the group’s initial steps were these simple stickers, which caught a lot of peoples attention and local news articles were written about. Street banners soon followed. A few years later the Elmwood Village received a prestigious award by the American Planning Association as one of America’s “Best Neighborhoods” to live in.

Albeit a small step towards such a prestigious award, the creation and distribution of West Haven’s “Pride of the Near West Side” bumper stickers is something we’re certainly glad to do.
